Use Caution with Wikipedia
US scientists undertook a comparison for entries in Wikipedia concerning conditions such as heart disease and lung cancer and compared them with peer-reviewed medical research.
In nine out 10 of Wikipedia’s health entries there were errors. Entries into Wikipedia can be edited by anyone and given the open-access nature of Wikipedia, doctors are concerned about the reliability of the information. Consequently, patients should be encouraged to consult with their doctor about health concerns and not rely on Wikipedia. For more information, click here.
